Mental Performance Consulting

Performers are athletes, coaches, teachers, businesspeople, or those in virtually any other job where you have to share your own knowledge and experience with others. Performers often focus on the task at hand through things like rehearsing speeches, working out, creating presentation material, or planning schedules. There is so much emphasis on the physical, that it is easy to forget that the mental side controls everything. No matter how much a performer may be physically ready and at their peak, if they are not solid psychologically, execution will fail. This is why it is our mission to bring the mental aspect of performance to the forefront, while helping you maintain the physical sides in healthy and highly effective ways.

In our one-on-one sessions the performer can choose to bring topics of interest in, or they can let the mental performance consultant pick topics based on assessment. It is important that we listen to you, encourage growth, foster balanced daily routines, and be there when setbacks arise. We believe that everything in life is connected, you cannot increase your mental performance if you neglect your daily functioning, so it is encouraged to begin exploring that connection. Digging deeply into your brain can be uncomfortable, and there may be times where the purpose of an activity is unknown, but perseverance is one of the most important traits for high performers to have. We encourage asking questions, communicating outside of sessions, and being completely honest even if it is difficult. Your mental performance consultant will never push past boundaries that you set and will never judge you for anything that comes up during the work together.

Performers have complete control over their own mental performance plans, whether it is goal setting or scheduling. Finding the best solutions for each individual is a priority, and we enjoy exploring a multitude of approaches to allow for individual and situational differences. To us, you are not just another client, you are someone who we will care for and support throughout your performance career, through all of the ups and downs.

To be able to help a wide variety of people to the highest standard, both education and experience are equally important.

Mary began studying at the University of Kentucky, where she was majoring in Kinesiology and minoring in Performance Psychology. She transferred to West Virginia University where she graduated with a degree in Health and Well-Being. A background in kinesiology and health practices allows for in-depth knowledge of the human body and how it can function optimally. This gives our performers an edge as the mind-body connection is fostered very strongly. Learning the basics of mental performance sparked a love for learning about the topic, and Mary is currently completing her Master's in Sport and Performance Psychology at Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania (graduation July 2026). By gaining extensive teaching on performance psychology itself, and being immersed in a hands-on learning environment, Mary has built a tool bag of approaches and solutions so she can find something for everyone.

During school she was an NCAA athlete, winning 11 Championship titles over five years. Balancing school, training, additional team requirements, homework, and a social life is incredibly difficult, but the experience has allowed Mary to develop techniques for healthy balancing. On top of all of that, she is also a member of the US National Team and has traveled to over 40 international competitions, where she has won 27 medals so far. She has been to two Olympics, Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, and won silver in Tokyo in the mixed team event. Still currently competing allows Mary to continue gaining experience and knowledge from athletes in various sports and from various countries. It has never been a problem for clients and is a great opportunity to be exposed to a high-level environment before having to perform in it themselves.
